This PSi Conference is an initiative of the School of Performance and\n Cultural Industries at the University of Leeds\, UK\, in partnership with\n sister schools in the Faculty of Performance\, Visual Arts and \nCommunications\, and Workshop Theatre in the Faculty of Arts. In \nassociation with partner arts organizations in Leeds and beyond\, we are \nworking to provide a programme of international and regional performance\n to coincide with the conference\, open both to delegates and to the \ndenizens of Leeds.
\nLeeds is a multi-cultural city of around 800\,000 people in the North \nof England\, with excellent connections by air and rail. It first built \nits wealth through wool\, which remained an important element in its \nrapid economic development in the Industrial Revolution. Most recently\, \nit has become the UK&rsquo\;s second-largest centre for financial\, business and\n legal services. The City and its region enjoy a rich cultural offer\, \nincluding the Yorkshire Sculpture Park\, the recently-opened Hepworth \nGallery (Wakefield)\, and Leeds Art Gallery. Restaurants\, bars and hotels\n are many and range well in price. Budget accommodation is available \nthrough the conference\; and registration fees will be banded according \nto income.
\nThe University of Leeds is a member of the research-intensive Russell\n Group of UK Universities and a member of the World Universities Network\n (WUN). It has approximately 31\,000 students.
