Organized by the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, Humboldt’s KOSMOS Summer University 2013 “Human Sociality and the Brain – Decision Making in Social Contexts“ will focus on human sociality research at the interface between neuroscience and the humanities.

The Summer University will bring together neuroscientists, psychologists and philosophers presenting the latest experimental results and theoretical findings regarding decision making in social contexts. Putting interdisciplinarity to work, the lectures will present a comprehensive overview of the most recent empirical developments, bring them into context, and shed light on the consequences of such findings.

The KOSMOS Summer University has been organized with a special focus on the participants’ needs. It will foster intensive contact and exchange between participants and faculty. Participants will be given ample opportunity to present their own work in small groups where they will receive first-hand comments and advice from top level scientists. Moreover, hands-on courses on grant-application writing will teach participants to put their ideas into practice and develop a successful grant application in their respective fields.

The KOSMOS program is a key internationalization project and part of the institutional strategy of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. It combines two of the University’s strengths: internationality and interdisciplinarity. In addition to the Summer University, KOSMOS supports fellows and workshops.
