Details

There has recently been a growing interest in truthmaker semantics as an alternative to the standard possible-worlds approach in philosophical and formal semantics. We, the organizers, feel that research on the topic has reached a stage where it is opportune to offer a regular venue to share recent advances in truthmaker semantics and related approaches, as well as to strengthen the intellectual ties within the community.

This conference, which we hope is the first in a series of many, will be held on 5–7 June 2023 at NYU’s Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy (https://lapietra.nyu.edu/). It is jointly organized by Kit Fine (NYU), Mark Jago (University of Nottingham), and Johannes Korbmacher (Utrecht University).

Call for papers

Several slots will be made available for contributed papers. We invite interested researchers to submit a blinded abstract of max. 1000 words by January 31, 2023 to Ethan Russo at:

Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by early March 2023.

Two of the available slots are earmarked for Early Career Researchers (including PhD students and those max. 3 years after PhD).

There are limited travel funds available for speakers who cannot rely on funding from other sources. If you would like to apply for a travel subsidy, please indicate so in your email to the organizers.

Registration

There are limited slots available to non-contributing participants. If you would like to attend as a non-speaker (or, alternatively, as a chair of one of the sessions) then please contact the organizers under:

Note that for non-speakers there will be a conference fee of USD 300 to cover lunches and refreshments at the venue and to help offset additional costs.
