Details

Rice University’s Global Center in Paris, France, will be holding a conference on the “ethics of consciousness” on 10-11 April 2024. Topics to be covered include the role of consciousness in wellbeing, its moral significance, as well as more applied ethical questions regarding disorders of consciousness, animal consciousness, and artificial or synthetic consciousness. There will be invited talks by Willem van Der Deijl, Kathinka Evers, and Eden Lin. We have free slots for four more talks, to be selected from submissions. Please submit an abstract of 500-750 words to [email protected] by Dec. 18, with the subject line “ethics of consciousness submission”.

The conference is paired with a twin conference on the “aesthetics of consciousness,” to be held in the same venue on 12-13 April. Participants would be welcome to attend both conferences if they wish.
