Details

We invite contribution proposals for an edited multidisciplinary volume addressing the future of race in Canada, broadly construed. Topics may be approached from any discipline or inter- or multidisciplinary perspectives. Possible topics include but are not limited to Canadian demographic trends, the increasing politicization of DEI, race-based polarization and conflict, legislative or institutional policy, shifting attitudes regarding race relations, the revision of school curriculums, comparative analyses of Canada and other nations, the Black experience in Canada, policing, algorithmic bias, reparations, blame and forgiveness, intersectionality, healthcare and reproductive rights, etc.

This collection of essays will be compiled, edited, and submitted to top academic presses for consideration for publication, with the anticipated release being in mid to late 2025.

While quality, originality, and fit will be the determining factors, we are particularly interested in contributions that maintain at least a modest level of accessibility. We are also particularly interested in contributions from members of racial groups thathave been traditionally underrepresented in Canadian academia and leadership positions. We invite submission contributors to self-identify if they choose.

Full submissions should typically be between 8,000 and 14,000 words, not including notes and references, and sent as a Word or PDF document to Dr. Leland Harper at [email protected]. Alternatively, extended abstracts of up to 500 words will be considered, and authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit full papers. Please also include a cover letter stating contact information and professional or academic affiliation in the body of the email or as a separate attachment. Submissions will be accepted until June 15, 2024.

Any initial queries can be sent to Dr. Leland Harper at [email protected]
