Details

In recent years, the science and the philosophy of consciousness has seen growing interest in structural questions about consciousness. This is a Call for Papers for a special issue of Philosophy and the Mind Sciences on “Structuralism in the Science of Consciousness.”

‘Structuralism’, in its most general sense, expresses the view that investigating the structure of consciousness is a central aim for consciousness research. Relevant topics include degrees and dimensions of consciousness, quality-spaces, parts and wholes, the unity of consciousness, the role of structure in individuating conscious experiences, and the relationship between phenomenal structures and neural structures. We are especially interested in manuscripts that emphasize interactions between philosophical and empirical work on consciousness.

If you are uncertain whether your work fits this issue, we encourage you to make a pre-submission inquiry (even ahead of writing a manuscript) to [email protected].

Philosophy and the Mind Sciences (PhiMiSci) focuses on the intersection between philosophy and the empirical mind sciences. PhiMiSci is a peer-reviewed, not-for-profit open-access journal that is free for authors and readers. The deadline for submissions is August 15th, 2024. The estimated publication date is 2nd Quarter of 2025.

Instructions for submissions can be found here: https://philosophymindscience.org/index.php/phimisci/about/submissions.
