Mental health awareness is drawing attention to many critical issues related to the understanding of the autism spectrum, mood and personality disorders,and behavioral healthcare more generally. The Ethics &Mental HealthSymposium atMarietta College in Marietta, OH will include sessions and panels that address social, ethical and political questions related to mental illness and developmental challenges, broadly construed.  

The Ethics & Mental Health Symposium will feature academic work along with workshops and resources by clinicians and organizations. Additionally, service projects related to mental illness will be on-going and participants will be giventhe opportunity to volunteer. We encourage submissions from scholars and clinicians at all career levels in disciplines such as Philosophy, Psychology, Legal Studies, Medicine, Bioethics and Education, etc

This event is a collaborative with the McDonough Center, the Office of Civic Engagement, and the Department of Psychology. We are currently accepting papers and proposals for the Symposium. Submissions are due no later than 12PM on Monday, December 16th, 2013.

Papers may be on any topic related to ethics and mental health but are not to exceed 3,000-4,500 words in length (15 minutes reading time). Papers should be prepared for blind refereeing. Please send your file attached to an e-mail message in which you include a one paragraph bio. Preferred file formats include Word and PDF. Commentators and session chairs will be selected for some papers. You are invited to send an indication of willingness to comment (along with your current C.V.).
