The purpose of the workshop is to explore novel work on the topics of fundamentality and metaphysical infinitism as well as related topics, such as grounding, ontological dependence, well-foundedness, and infinite regress. Although fundamentality and grounding are topics which have received plenty of attention in recent analytic metaphysics, the possibility of infinite chains of grounding or dependence, seemingly undermining fundamentality, has not been explored in as much detail. This workshop brings together researchers who have made a start towards a systematic treatment of metaphysical infinitism and infinite regress. The upshots of different kinds of infinitism towards fundamentality will be in the spotlight.

Schedule and further details will be announced later this spring, but the workshop will run for two full days, June 2-3. Participation is free, but registration is encouraged (an informal e-mail to the organiser will do).

The workshop is organized by Tuomas E. Tahko and his research project Essential Knowledge: The Metaphysical Basis of Scientific Realism, with the participation of Dynamis: The Finnish Network for Metaphysics.
