Open Minds IX

A graduate conference in all areas of philosophy

Friday 4th July 2014, University of Manchester

We are pleased to announce our ninth annual graduate conference. Following on from the success of Open Minds I - VIII, this conference is intended to provide a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate students and early career researchers to share and discuss their work.

Open Minds IX will take place on 4th July 2014 at the University of Manchester. Our keynote speaker will be Professor Gonzalo Rodriguez-Pereyra (Oriel College, University of Oxford).

We welcome papers from all areas of philosophical research. Please submit papers of a length suitable for presentation in twenty minutes to [email protected] with subject line 'Submission', and in a form suitable for blind review. Please include a separate cover page giving the title of the paper and your contact details. Additionally, please provide an abstract of 200 to 500 words in length for our programme.

The new deadline for receipt of submissions is April 30th 2014. We aim to notify successful applicants by 15th May 2014.

It is our aim to provide free accommodation for invited speakers, however this will be subject to availability. If you wish to be considered for accommodation for the 4th July, please specify when making your submission. Note that this will not affect the likelihood of your paper’s being accepted.

Additionally, please be aware that all applicants to Open Minds will be invited to submit their paper for publication in a special edition of Praxis Journal of Postgraduate Philosophy based on the conference proceedings. See http://praxisjp.org for more details.
