Details

This current year, 2014, is the centennial of the departure of Charles Sanders Peirce, father of semiotics, pioneer of modern mathematical logic, founder of pragmatism, and inspirer of several contemporary philosophies of language. The contribution of his ideas to the advancement of science, philosophy, logic, mathematics, and epistemology is unanimously considered of the utmost value.
The aim of the 21th national congress of the Italian Society for the Philosophy of Language is not merely to celebrate a prominent historical figure, but to discuss and develop those ideas of Peirce's that have been at the center of the international debate in semiotics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind in recent years.
