Session’s Theme: Critical Thinking and Social/Political Value

Abstracts Due: September 15, 2015

The purpose of this group session is to explore the actual or possible social political value of teaching and learning critical thinking.  Presenters will have 20-25 minutes to present research, with 20 minutes set aside for Q and A.  Possible topics or themes may involve (but are certainly not limited to):

Democracy and critical thinking

Ideology and critical thinking

Liberty and critical thinking

Power/oppression and critical thinking

Critical thinking as an instrumental value

Critical thinking as an intrinsic value

Critical thinking and the virtues

Epistemic values and critical thinking

Moral values and critical thinking

Pedagogy and critical thinking

Critical thinking and curriculum design
