In order to make room for new ideas, we often have to rise against the old ones. Every new generation of philosophers has to find its own way among the established perspectives of the field. Although a rebellious attitude may lead to refreshing new ways of addressing age-old philosophical topics, it holds the risk of discarding old ideas that are still valuable. For the OZSW Graduate Conference in Theoretical Philosophy we are interested in the question how young researchers relate to this. How is your research new? Do you seek new approaches to old topics, or do you use classic ideas to tackle new problems? To what extent do you break with the tradition and start anew?

For this conference we invite graduate students to give presentations of 20 minutes, in the field of theoretical philosophy in both its analytic and its continental tradition (philosophy of mind, language and science, logic, metaphysics and epistemology, aesthetics). These presentations can be on any topic in these areas, but they should specifically adress how your research is or isn’t new or renewing. Besides presentations and keynote speakers, the conference will include a smashing social program!

Abstracts of max. 300 words can be sent to [email protected]. The submission deadline is February 1st 2015, and please prepare the abstracts for blind review. For more information about the conference, visit the conference website at www.gctp15.nl.
