Description

Moving from a revision of logic, and of its role and status, Carlo Cellucci puts forward a fresh view point—the ‘heuristic conception’. In his works he discusses philosophical issues such as human understanding, knowledge, particularly the scientific variety, issues of method, and means of acquiring new knowledge.

His latest book is Rethinking Logic: Logic in relation to Mathematics, Evolution and Method (Springer, 2014). The issues he deals with here and those he has tackled in his many other works are discussed and analysed in the volume From a heuristic point of view. Essays in honor of Carlo Cellucci (eds: E. Ippoliti-C. Cozzo, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014).

This workshop will present and discuss the issues raised in these two books with the participation of the author and other experts in the field. The discussion will be open to the public.
