The Penn Ancient Workshop (PAW) invites abstracts for presentations that engage with the work of the pre-Platonic philosopher, Anaxagoras of Clazomenae. The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

We welcome papers that deal explicitly with the fragments of Anaxagoras as well as papers that study his fragments in relation to other thinkers. This could include the influence of Milesian and Eleatic thought on Anaxagoras’ philosophy, Anaxagoras’ responses to his predecessors, or Anaxagoras’ influence on later philosophical and scientific thought.

We welcome a range of methodological approaches and encourage participation from related disciplines.

Although the eventual papers should be around 2000 words in length, abstracts need only be 300 words in length and must not be longer than 500 words.

Please submit abstracts by January 15, 2015 to [email protected]. The abstracts should not contain any identifying information, but please be sure to include contact information in the body of the email. Acceptance notices will be sent out by February 1. Full papers must be received no later than April 1.
