CFP: Midsummer Philosophy Workshop

We invite submissions and welcome volunteers for commenting and chairing for the third annual Midsummer Philosophy Workshop. This year the workshop will be hosted at the University of Edinburgh.

The aim of the Midsummer Philosophy Workshop is to discuss new work in analytic philosophy. Everyone is welcome to submit or volunteer, but we particularly encourage early career researchers to participate.

The Midsummer Philosophy Workshop is a pre-read workshop. The papers will not be presented in whole or summary, and sessions will instead focus on comments and discussion. Therefore, anyone submitting or volunteering should commit to reading all the papers ahead of time. Since we hope to stimulate discussion across all areas of specialisation, participants are expected to attend all sessions. Because of the format of the workshop, participation will be restricted to those on the conference program. There will be plenty of time for informal discussions and socialising. On the three nights of the workshop, the sun will not set in Edinburgh until 10:03 pm.

Submissions should take the form of a 1000 word abstract, prepare for anonymous review. We welcome work on any philosophical topic, but because the workshop will be attended by participants in a range of areas of specialisation, papers that are broadly accessible will have a better chance of getting accepted. Volunteers for commenting or chairing should state their AOS and include a brief anonymised summary of their research.

The deadline for submissions and volunteering is February 15.
