Dear Philosophy Undergraduates,

You are invited to submit a paper to the 2015 University of Sheffield Philosophy Undergraduate Conference.  This year will see the award of the first 'Sheffield International Undergraduate Essay Prize' which will be awarded to the best paper from a student not studying at Sheffield. The prize is £500 and reimbursement of travel expenses up to £500.

Submitting a paper   Deadline: 30 January 2015

Requirements: Full paper suitable for 25 minute presentation (i.e. 2000 – 4000 words) with abstract, on any topic in philosophy (Include within the document a title page with your name, institution and contact details.)

Note: the abstract/paper should contain no identifying information

Upon selection

If your paper is selected we will inform you by email no later than 8 February 2015. You will be asked to give a 25-30 minute talk followed by 15-20 minutes of questions at some point during the conference.  The winner of the prize will be announced at the end of the conference.

The Conference

Date: 7-8 March 2015

Venue: University of Sheffield Humanities Research Institute, Sheffield, UK  

Registration: £5 to include lunch.

Keynotes: Jules Holroyd from the University of Nottingham, who will be giving a talk entitled 'Towards an Ameliorative Conception of Moral Responsibility' and Stephen Makin from the University of Sheffield.
