The Hermeneutic Rationalityand Dialectics-Features of the Contemporaryand the Modern- Symposium will bring together young researchers and post-graduate students around a questioning of the modalities of contemporary rationality. It will also focus particular themesand problems, both on issues of practical or theoretical philosophy. Groups will be organized for systematic and historical-conceptual discussion.

 Because the hermeneutic rationality connects the presentto its historical formation, the contemporaneity to its conditions-in modernity and even further back-and shares with the dialectical thought constitutive openness to difference, dialogue,criticism and conflict, Hermeneutics and Dialectics, while key features of thecontemporary in its critical relationship with the modern, shall give to the meeting its more general framework. 

The conference, organizedby the Hermeneutic Rationality Research Group (Centre of Classical and Humanistic Studies-CECH), in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, Communication and Information of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra (FLUC), the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Salamanca, provides continuity to the previous internationalevents of post-graduate students and young researchers in Philosophy of the FLUC.

 Paper proposalsshould besent no later than 8 March 2015 to [email protected] andinclude theproposed title, abstract (500 words maximum), e-mail addressand a brief curriculum of the author.Presentations shoul dnot exceed 20 minutes duration, and may be presented in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French. Acceptance of proposals will benotified by 15 March.
