Details

The Department of Philosophy will host a conference honoring Alan H. Goldman, William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Humanities and Professor of Philosophy, on Saturday, September 5, 2015. Professor Goldman is retiring from the College of William & Mary in summer 2015, after thirteen years of teaching at the College, preceded by twenty-five years in the Philosophy Department at the University of Miami. He has held visiting positions at the University of Michigan, University of Colorado, and University of Auckland.

The conference will feature four speakers:

Ernest Sosa (Board of Governors Professor of Philosophy, Rutgers University)

Patricia Marino (Associate Professor of Philosophy, University of Waterloo)

Robert Stecker (Professor of Philosophy, Central Michigan University)

Joshua Gert (Francis S. Haserot Professor of Philosophy, College of William & Mary)

Commentators will be W&M graduates who are former students of Professor Goldman and now Ph.D. candidates in Philosophy at other institutions: Dustin Crummett (University of Notre Dame), Adam Lerner (Princeton University), Laura Matthews (University of Georgia), and Zach McCarty (University of Wisconsin).
