Embodied Religion will hold two workshops on the relation between social structures and religious experiences. These workshops will take place March 14-16 at Princeton University and August 8-10 at University of Colorado at Boulder, respectively.
These workshops will provide a forum for discussions examining the following questions:
- How does occupying a particular social position (or multiple social positions) impact a person’s religious experiences?
- How do RSEs affect social structures, particularly the structures of religious groups? And
- How does occupying particular social positions impact scholars’ methodology and assumptions when researching religious experience?
Abstracts for submitted papers will be due December 15, 2015 and March 1, 2016 (respectively). Lodging and meals will be provided for everyone at both workshops, and we also expect to be able to cover travel expenses.
