CFP: Graduate Panel @ Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy

Graduate students are cordially invited to submit papers for the 43rd annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy, to be held at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon. The theme of the conference is: Inter-American Philosophy, highlighting prominent philosophies from the South, Central, and North Americas, including Indigenous philosophy. We will give preference to papers in this area, but papers from all areas of American Philosophy are welcome.

Student Travel Funds: Limited travel funds are available to assist students whose papers are accepted for the program. Please Contact Bill Myers, SAAP Treasurer, for more information, [email protected].

The deadline for submissions is January 1, 2016. This is a firm deadline. We will stop accepting submissions at midnight Pacific Standard Time on January 1, 2016. Please submit your paper or proposal following the guidelines below:

Papers should be no longer than 3000 words. Longer papers will not be considered.

Submissions must include a 100-150 word abstract. Accepted papers will be presented in their entirety by the author during a session and, in most cases, will be followed by a ten minute commentary and a period of open discussion.

All submissions must be e-mailed to: [email protected] with the following attachments:

(1) Document with Author Information, Title of Paper, Abstract, and Keywords with file name: “SAAP 2016 Graduate Panel”

(2) Document with paper prepared for blind review (please do not include any information about your submission itself in the body of the e-mail).

Confirmation: All persons making submissions will receive confirmation of receipt of their submission within 48 hours. If you have not received notification regarding the decision about your submission by 10 January, please contact the session organizer.

Please note that multiple submissions will not be accepted and that persons participating in invited sessions or on the main program may not submit to the graduate student panel.

Scheduling: The Program Committee assumes that it may schedule a paper or session at any time between Thursday at 2:00 p.m., and Saturday late afternoon.
