Event Details:

An intensive 3-day workshop for scholars of medieval Islamic, Jewish, and Christian philosophy, this year hosted at Marquette University, featuring live and video presentations and discussions on the philosophy of al-Ghazali by:

  • Prof. Therese-Anne Druart (Catholic University of America)
  • Prof. Frank Griffel (Yale University)
  • Prof. Taneli Kukkonen (New York University)
  • Prof. Tzvi Langermann (Bar-Ilan University)

While our Workshop is designed with scheduled time for Milwaukee participants to view and discuss in advance the video presentations of the papers by our 4 featured speakers, we are also including time for up to 4 additional submitted papers to be presented in person in Milwaukee.

First held at Marquette University in 2008, this Summer workshop conference alternates between the University of Denver and Marquette University. The new video & Skype format was adopted in 2014. For a list of projected summer seminars through 2027, see AbrahamicTraditions.org.

Conference Proposal Submission Guidelines:

  • Established Scholars: send a title and an abstract of 50-100 words
  • Graduate Students: send a title, a 50-100 word abstract, a CV and a supporting letter from your faculty advisor or dissertation director

• Papers should be prepared for 35-40 min. reading time.

• Send applications by email to Prof. Sarah Pessin at [email protected]

The Selection Committee will choose presenters on the basis of quality of proposals (title and abstract) and scholarly record as the primary criteria. Choices will be made on a rolling basis.
