48th Annual Meeting: Nov. 4-5, 2016

Hosted at Vanderbilt University

The 48th Annual Meeting of the Tennessee Philosophical Association will be November 4 and 5, 2016, on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville.  Dr. Daniel Selcer of Duquesne University will deliver the Keynote Address.  Details will be available online at: www.tpaweb.org.

An evening Keynote Address will launch our meeting, be followed by a spirited reception, and a second day featuring paper-and-response concurrent sessions, as well as author-meets-critics and special topics events.

Call for Papers:

Papers are welcome on topics in any area of philosophy.

Deadline for Submissions: September 15, 2016

Submissions:

Paper Length:  maximum 3,000 words (excludes notes);

Abstract Length:  maximum 100 words (should preface paper);

Format:  standard 12 pt. font; double-spaced lines;

Electronic Submission:

  • Attachment:  single file (abstract and paper) in .doc, .docx, or .rtf file format;
  • Email Text:  your contact information; paper title; 100-word abstract; paper word count;
  • Email Subject Line:  “TPA submission;”
  • Send To: [email protected]

Respondents:  A call for commentators will be issued after September 15; please help by volunteering and encouraging your advanced students and colleagues to do so, too.

Book Authors:  If you are a Tennessee author of a recent book, and interested in having it considered for a critics’ session at the upcoming or future conferences, please email the association president, Mélanie Walton, at [email protected].

Decisions:  Will be sent around the start of October.
