This Summer the Humane Philosophy Project will co-organise the 19th International Dominican Study Week and Conference in collaboration with The Croatian Dominican Province, the Centre of Excellence for Integrative Bioethics ( University of Zagreb) and the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion (University of Oxford). 

The International Dominican Study Week is an opportunity for students of philosophy and theology to spend a week on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, furthering their studies alongside friars of the Order of Preachers. Those teaching at the study week will include HPP organisers Ralph Weir, Samuel Hughes and  Mikolaj Slawkowski-Rode, as well as Marija Selak from Zagreb University, and Benedikt Gocke a post doctoral research fellow at teh Ian Ramsey Centre Oxford. This year's topic will be: 

Rationality and the Problem of Evil 

The study week proper (28th August-1st September) will be followed by a conference (2nd-3rd September) on the same topic, with keynote speaker:

The official language of the Study Week and the Conference is English. Students and researchers of philosophy and/or theology  are invited to apply to participate in one or both of these events. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the local area and to visit the historic city of Split a short boat-ride away.

Applications and proposals should be submitted as e-mail attachments (entitled: ‘Application for the Trogir 2016’ a) ‘Study Week’ b) ‘Conference’ c) ‘Study Week and Conference’) by 1st of June 2016 to: [email protected]. The registration fee will be 350 euros (for the Study Week); 150 euros (for the Conference) and will cover the costs of the Study Week/Conference and accommodation.

Those who are interested in participating actively in the conference should submit a proposal that includes: title of presentation, a paper abstract approximately 250-300 words in length, which includes the problem with which your scholarship engages, and the contribution you plan to make. All applicants are requested to send as a separate document: name and surname, status/title, institution, contact address, e-mail and phone number, CV.
