The Orlando Nightclub Massacre, the passage of HB2 in North Carolina, and the hundreds of other anti-LGBTQ bills filed since the 2015 Obergefell decision on marriage equality mark just a few of the ways in which LGBTQ communities continue to be targets of violence in the U.S. The Society for LGBTQ Philosophy seeks presentations that reflect on such forms of anti-LGBTQ violence for an upcoming session at the Central Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association in Kansas City, MO on March 1-4, 2017.
The Society for LGBTQ Philosophy requests that interested presenters submit abstracts of 250-500 words on any topic related to anti-LGBTQ violence, legislation impacting LGBTQ populations, and/or resistance to violence by LGBTQ communities. We ask that all abstracts and paper titles be submitted by September 15th, 2016 to [email protected].
The Society for LGBTQ Philosophy seeks to promote dialogue on any and all philosophical issues affecting LGBTQ populations. We also aim to promote the work of philosophers from underrepresented groups in the profession, and the work of graduate students, junior faculty, and underemployed scholars in philosophy working on LGBTQ issues.
