Details

All student papers in philosophy of art or with a theoretical focus on the arts are invited. Graduate students as well as undergraduate students are welcome to submit.

Papers should not exceed 5,000 words (and might be much shorter), should be accompanied by a 250-word abstract, and should be prepared for anonymous review. All submissions should be PDF or Word files and are to be emailed to [email protected] with “2017SSCA” in the subject line. Deadline: January 6, 2017.

To facilitate lively discussion, accepted papers and abstracts will be distributed to all participants at least a week in advance of the conference. Each participant will give a 7-10-minute summary or motivation of their paper’s argument along with any examples that might be helpful for the audience. Each summary will be followed by a 20-30-minute discussion. The conference will proceed in the style of a workshop where all participants are expected to read each of the nine accepted papers.

All accepted students will be reimbursed up to $325 for travel and lodging.

Contact Jonathan A. Neufeld with any questions. Include “2017SSCA” in the subject line of emails to [email protected]
