INDEXICALS AND DEMONSTRATIVES I
WARSAW, 6-7 of April, 2022

INDEXICALS AND DEMONSTRATIVES I is first of the series of the workshop-seminars planned within the project Semantic and epistemological aspects of ostension: from demonstrating procedures to the exploitation of the context of utterance.

Invited speaker:

Alexandru Radulescu (University of Missouri)

The purpose of the workshop-seminars is to gather philosophers interested in indexicality, especially in various problems connected with the distinction between proper indexicals and demonstratives (the role of intentions in determining the reference of indexicals and demonstratives, the linguistic meanings of indexical expressions etc.) and other problems in the logic, semantics and pragmatics of deictic expressions. We are especially interested in foundational philosophical questions and issues.

We invite submissions for 45 minute talks (including 15 minutes for the discussion). A one-page abstract of maximum 500 words should be submitted to [email protected] by the 1st of March 2022. The abstract, in the pdf format, should be prepared for a blind peer review. The notification of acceptance will be sent by the 15th of March 2022. The authors of the accepted papers may be asked to play a role of one of the commentators of the papers that are going to be presented by our invited speaker.

The workshop shall be a hybrid event:  it is going to be an in-person meeting with a streaming and zoom participation option.   VENUE: Aula 1.007, Dobra 55 Street, Warsaw   ZOOM DETAILS: Please write to [email protected] if you'd like to participate!
