DESCRIPTION:<p>Every year\, the British and Irish Postgraduate Philosophy Association (BIPPA) organises its Annual Conference\,&nbsp\;when&nbsp\;we aim at bringing together postgraduate students from all over the UK and the Republic of Ireland to present their work\, meet their peers and strengthen the postgraduate philosophical community. The conference includes talks by graduate students\, keynote addresses by senior academics\, and the BIPPA Annual Careers Workshop. During the second day of the conference\, participants will also have the opportunity to attend our BIPPA Annual Masterclass.</p>\n<p>This year&rsquo\;s conference will take place&nbsp\;<em>in person</em>&nbsp\;at&nbsp\;University College Dublin\, Dublin\, Ireland\, on the 11th and 12th of November 2022. The theme of the conference is &lsquo\;Gender\, Race\, Identity&rsquo\;. Invited speakers at the conference\, the workshop\, and the masterclass include:</p>\n<p>- Professor Katherine O'Donnell (University College Dublin)</p>\n<p>- Professor Tommy J. Curry (Edinburgh)</p>\n<p>- Dr Alexander Franklin (King's College London)</p>\n<p>- Dr Valeria Venditti (Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork)</p>\n<p>- Dr Danielle Petherbridge (University College Dublin)</p>\n<p>- Dr Jonas Raab (Trinity College Dublin)</p>\n<p>Some of the topics that we will explore in the conference include\, but are not limited to\, the following:</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;The social and political dimension of identity (including any philosophy that concerns the historical\, political and economic constitution of race\, gender\, sexuality and class and potentially their overlapping)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Philosophy of&nbsp\;personal identity (including debates in Metaphysics \, Phenomenology\, Existentialism\, Frankfurt school and beyond)</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Feminist philosophy (including under-represented canonical figures in the history of philosophy\, feminist readings of the history of philosophy\, branches of feminist philosophy e.g. Poststructuralist feminists\, Black feminism\, Marxist feminism\, Analytic feminism and also lesser-known feminist thinkers)</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Transgender philosophy\, Transphilosophy\, and Queer Theory&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Afro-futurism\, afro-pessimism\, Africana critical theory/Black existentialism and Critical Race theory</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Post-colonial\, anti-colonial thought and Orientalism&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Non-Western approaches to gender\, race\, personal identity\, and social/political identity</p>\n<p>Please\, note that we are no longer accepting submissions for the conference. Note that participants at the conference will be asked to pay a conference fee of &pound\;20\, in order to cover the costs of running the event. The fee is smaller for those wishing to register for the masterclass only.
