DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>CLOE &ndash\; MSCA COFUND</strong></p>\n<p><strong>FINO &ndash\; Northwestern Italian Philosophy Consortium</strong></p>\n<p>Keynote speakers:<strong> </strong>Sarah Fine (University of Cambridge)\, David Miller (Nuffield College\, Oxford)<strong>&nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\; &nbsp\;&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n\n<p>We find ourselves in a world where wars\, poverty and environmental crises are increasingly forcing people out of their countries\, regions\, places of settlement and so on. These\, indeed\, are all urgent challenges that states are facing and that call for more normative work aimed at providing states with fine theoretical tools to orient their immigration and borders-control policies.</p>\n\n<p>The main normative problems lie on different possible ways to interpret and justify states&rsquo\; territorial rights and\, particularly\, states&rsquo\; right to control their borders and massive flows of people across them. We would like to tackle fundamental questions such as whether migrants&rsquo\; exclusion violates their rights to movement and subsistence with a specific focus on what states&rsquo\; territorial rights entail. You are therefore invited to submit an abstract (max 300 words in Engish) on any of the following sub-themes:</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Territorial rights and human rights</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Territorial rights\, displacement\, and migration</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Territorial rights and eviction</p>\n<p>&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Territorial rights\, states\, groups\, and individuals</p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>If the abstract is accepted\, you will be asked to submit a short paper that will be made available to participants in advance and discussed during the workshop.
