The Philosophy Department at the University of Arkansas invites submissions for its inaugural Philosophy in the Ozarks graduate student conference. While we plan to also offer online accessibility for participants\, the event will be held in-person on Friday\, March 03 and Saturday\, March 04\, 2023.
\nThis year&rsquo\;s theme is &ldquo\;Perspectives in Social Epistemology and Philosophy of Language.&rdquo\; Submissions from any philosophical tradition are welcome and we particularly encourage applied/practically engaged projects (broadly construed).
\nOur keynote speaker will be Dr. Cassie Herbert (Illinois State University).
\nSubmissions
\nApplicants should submit anonymized drafts of no more than 3\,000 words for review\, as well as a 250-word abstract and 3-6 keywords. Participants should expect 20 minutes to present\, 10 minutes for interaction with a commentator\, and 25 minutes of Q&\;A (shared with one other participant).
\nPlease submit papers (in Word or PDF format) to philoz@uark.edu\, prepared for anonymous review (files should be named with the following format: Ozarks2023_[paper title]). With your submission\, please include the following information:
\nAuthors must be current graduate students in philosophy or a related discipline.
\nSubmissions are due by November 28\, 2022. Each submission will be anonymously reviewed by conference committee members and applicants will be notified by January 7\, 2023.
\nApplied Philosophy Prize: All papers included on the program will be considered for this prize\, awarded to a graduate student whose philosophical work engages substantively with practical issues of public concern. (The winner will be selected by a faculty advisory committee.)
