Scientists spend a lot of time testing a hypothesis\, \nand classifying experimental results as (in)significant evidence. But \neven after a century of hot debate\, there is no\n consensus on what this concept of significance implies\, how the results\n of hypothesis tests should be interpreted\, and which practical pitfalls\n have to be avoided. Take the fierce criticisms of significance testing \nin economics\, take the endless debate about\n statistical reform in psychology\, take the foundational disagreement \nbetween frequentists and Bayesians about what constitutes statistical \nevidence. Our workshop brings together the perspectives of philosophers \nand methodologists\, statisticians and practitioners. Attendance is free.
