DESCRIPTION:<p>The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University welcomes extended (750-1000 word) abstract submissions for the 2023 Midwest Ethics Symposium on the theme of Democracy and Philanthropy. We encourage submissions on democracy and/or philanthropy\, but also welcome submissions on related topics in ethics and/or social and political philosophy.&nbsp\;Our keynote speaker will be Emma Saunders-Hastings\, assistant professor of political science at the Ohio State University and author of&nbsp\;<em>Private Virtues\, Public Vices: Philanthropy and Democratic Equality</em>.<br><br>Four abstracts will be chosen for 25-30 minute presentations followed by comments and a question-and-answer session. In addition\, a fifth slot will be reserved for a 15-20 minute presentation by a DePauw University undergraduate.<br><br>Please submit your abstract at the link below by January 4\, 2023.&nbsp\;Contact Christiane Wisehart (christianewisehart@depauw.edu) with any questions about your submission.</p>
