DESCRIPTION:
CFP: 3rd Technology Commission (CoPhiTES) Symposium during the 17th CLMPST\, Buenos Aires\, Argentina: Technology and Values in an Uncertain World.
\n
DATES: 24-29 July\, 2023
\n
VENUE: School of Economics\, University of Buenos Aires\, Av. C&oacute\;rdoba 2122\, City of Buenos Aires\, Argentina
\n
SUBMISSIONS: clmpst.tech@gmail.com\; deadline: December\, 1\, 2023
\n\n
The DLMPST Commission on the Philosophy of Technology and Engineering Sciences (CoPhiTES) calls for papers contributing to its Third DLMPST symposium: Technology and Values in an Uncertain World. Contributions may focus on\, but are restricted to:
\n\n
(1) How are values at work in engineering and how do these values affect the methods of engineering (design\, development of knowledge etc) compared to the methodology of science?
\n\n
(2) To what extent are these values changing with time\, and what are the consequences of that?
\n
(3) Shouldn't the emphasis on ethics in the normative discussion of technologies be offset by adding approaches that belong to normative politics\, internal technical or even esthetic values rather than ethics\, since the development\, production\, implementation\, and use of technologies are largely aggregate phenomena rather than individual human actions.
\n\n
(4) What are the differences between the engineering values in the Academy and those in Industry?
\n\n
We would like to receive an abstract of your proposed contribution (300 - 500 words\, including references) by December 1.
\n\n
For further details\, please consult the official CLMPST 2023 website (https://clmpst2023.dc.uba.ar).
\n\n
CoPhiTES
\n
https://www.tudelft.nl/tbm/dlmpst-technology-commission/
\n\n
========================================
