DESCRIPTION:<p>The Graduate Philosophy Club of Virginia Tech welcomes paper submissions for its tenth annual Graduate Philosophy Conference\, which will take place November 1-2\, 2013 in Blacksburg\, VA. This year&rsquo\;s conference theme is &ldquo\;Topics in Early Modern Philosophy\,&rdquo\; and it will feature keynote addresses by Michael Friedman and Graciela De Pierris of Stanford University.</p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p>The conference will span the period from Descartes through Kant\, inclusive. We invite submissions engaging with any philosopher from this period. We particularly encourage papers that apply contemporary philosophical methods to source material from this time period or that trace the influence of an early modern philosopher on later debates.</p>\n<p><strong><br>Submissions should be a maximum of 4500 words (excluding notes and references) and suitable for a 25-minute presentation. Papers must be prepared for blind review and send as .pdf or .doc attachments with no author or affiliation information. Please also include a separate cover sheet with the paper title\, author name\, maximum 250-word abstract\, institutional affiliation\, e-mail address and phone number. Submissions should be made to vt.gradphilclub@gmail.com by September 16\, 2013.</strong></p>
