DESCRIPTION:
Theme of the conference: Technology and Mobility
\n
The Japanese Society for Science and Technology Studies (JSSTS) will host the 23rd biennial international conference of the Society for Philosophy and Technology. The conference will be celebrated primarily in person. The conference theme is "Technology and Mobility."
\n
Technologies always expand human mobility. Ships have made transcontinental travel possible\, and cars have made everyday long-distance movement possible. We can also say that the development of the telephone and internet has made the world &ldquo\;smaller&rdquo\; and thereby changed our idea of mobility. And now\, developments in technologies such as AI and self-driving cars are bringing a new situation. Technologies not only expand the range of our movement but also significantly change the way we move.
\n
In addition\, the COVID-19 pandemic forces us to consider mobility issues. The pandemic forced us to stop moving all over the world\, and instead\, we created a variety of activities by using ICT technologies. The situation calls into questions: What does it mean for people to move and meet in person\, and how does technology connect people?
\n
At this conference\, we aim to reflect on the relationship between technologies and mobility\, but papers reflecting on any aspect of technology are welcomed.
\n
Submissions
\n
Submissions that engage in philosophical aspects of technology are welcomed\, including those from disciplines other than philosophy (e.g.\, STS\, history\, anthropology\, and sociology). Submissions from practitioners\, including entrepreneurs\, engineers\, and engineering faculty\, are also encouraged.
\n
Paper\, Poster\, and Panel Submissions
\n
Paper submissions should include a brief (100 word) abstract and an extended (250-500 words) abstract. Poster submissions require a brief (150 word plus references) abstract. Panel proposals should be submitted by the panel organizer and should include a brief abstract (250 words)\, and\, for each panelist\, title and extended (250-500 words) abstract. Submissions should be sent: https://www.spt2023.org/cfp-submission.
\n
Timeline
\n
&middot\; December 1: Submission deadline
\n
&middot\; Beginning of January 2023: Notice of acceptance
\n
&middot\; June 7-10\, 2023: Conference
\n
Information
\n
For detailed conference information\, visit: https://www.spt2023.org/home
\n
For information about the Society for Philosophy and Technology\, visit: https://www.spt.org
\n
For questions\, please email: info(at)spt2023.org
