DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call For Proposals: <em>philo</em>SOPHIA 16th Annual Conference</strong> <strong>June 1-3\, 2023 | Hybrid (in-person and virtual)</strong> <strong>Hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Conference Theme:</strong></p>\n<p><strong><em>Southern Movements: </em></strong> <strong>Transnational Feminist Praxis and Philosophical Interventions</strong></p>\n<p><strong></strong><em>With virtual and in-person keynote speakers:</em></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ochy Curiel\, National University of Colombia</li>\n<li>Jasbir K. Puar\, Rutgers University</li>\n<li>Stephanie Rivera Berruz\, Marquette University</li>\n<li>Lindsey Stewart\, University of Memphis</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This year\, we invite contributions that promote a broad understanding of feminist theorizing and organizing through an examination of both regional and diasporic relations between the U.S. South and the Global South\, including relations among African\, Indigenous\, Caribbean\, Latin American\, Middle Eastern\, and Asian gender/sexuality studies and their U.S. Southern connections. We also encourage dialogue on these regional and diasporic relations within transnational disability theory\, global discourses of queer/cuir/quare and trans/travesti studies\, and migration studies.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>We welcome proposals that reflect on the conference theme in transnational contexts\, including from the plurality of non-European philosophical traditions.&nbsp\;All submissions will be considered though work related to the conference theme will be prioritized.</p>\n<p>***</p>\n<p><strong>Submission deadline: December 15th\, 2022</strong></p>\n<p><strong></strong>Guidelines for Submission:</p>\n<p>1.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Submit one of the following:</p>\n<p>a.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Individual abstracts of 500-700 words</p>\n<p>b.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Panel proposals (500 words) accompanied by individual abstracts for each paper (500-700 words each)\, collated into a single submission.</p>\n<p>2.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Please prepare your submission for anonymous review\, with identifying information (name\, institutional affiliation\, email address\, and a brief bio for each proposed participant) appearing only in your submission email.</p>\n<p>3.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Identify in your submission email whether you plan:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>1) to attend<strong><em> in person</em></strong> (if conditions permit)\; or&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>2) to participate <strong>virtually only.&nbsp\;</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p>4.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; If you are a graduate student or without institutional support for conference participation and would benefit from financial support to attend\, please identify yourself as such in your submission email.
