DESCRIPTION:<p>The Traveling Early Modern Philosophy Organization (TEMPO) is now accepting paper abstracts for our May 5th-6th\, 2023 conference to be held at Washington University in St. Louis. Details\, programs from past iterations\, and other information can be found at http://tempo-conference.net</p>\n<p>We welcome papers on any aspect of Modern philosophy\, roughly understood as the period from Montaigne through Mill.</p>\n<p>Submissions on British philosophy after Hume are particularly encouraged.</p>\n<p>Keynote Presentation:</p>\n<p>&ldquo\;Sympathetic Curiosity: Joanna Baillie\, Elizabeth Hamilton\, and the Bechdel Test in the History of Philosophy&rdquo\; by Deborah Boyle (College of Charleston)</p>\n<p>Plenary Talk:</p>\n<p>"Descartes on the Perception of Aesthetic Properties&rdquo\; by Domenica Romagni (Colorado State University)</p>\n<p>Panels:</p>\n<p>&ldquo\;Newtonian Themes in Du Ch&acirc\;telet&rdquo\; with presentations by Qiu Lin\, Organizer (Cornell University)\, Aaron Wells (Paderborn University) and Andrew Janiak (Duke University)</p>\n<p>&ldquo\;Catherine Macauley and Mary Wollstonecraft&rdquo\; with presentations by Elena Gordon\, Organizer (McGill / New Narratives) and Allauren Forbes (McMaster University)</p>\n<p>Please prepare 300-500 word abstracts for anonymous review. Papers should be suitable for a 25 minute presentation\, followed by 30 minutes of Q&amp\;A.</p>\n<p>Submit paper abstracts through http://tempo-conference.net/submit</p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is January 27th\, 2023.
