DESCRIPTION:<p>We are pleased to announce that the 2nd IVR (Internationale Vereinigung f&uuml\;r Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie\, International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy) Japan International Conference on &ldquo\;East Meets West: Justice\, Law\, and Politics&rdquo\; will be held at&nbsp\;Chiba University&nbsp\;near Tokyo from the 16th to 18th of September 2023. The conference will consist of plenary lectures and general sessions. Confirmed lecturers are&nbsp\;Prof. Daniel A. Bell&nbsp\;at the University of Hong Kong and&nbsp\;Prof. Hirohide Takikawa&nbsp\;at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Bell will deliver the 13th Kobe Lecture\, which will be open to the public. The conference&rsquo\;s official language is English.</p>\n<p>We invite researchers and graduate students to submit paper proposals for general sessions. Papers on any topics in the areas of legal philosophy\, political philosophy\, ethics\, and applied ethics in a broad sense are welcome\, but papers on topics related to the conference&rsquo\;s theme are particularly considered. Panel proposals on any topics in these areas are also invited.</p>\n<p>We have a plan to publish selected papers on the conference&rsquo\;s theme in a special issue of some international journal published by a Western publisher. Call for Papers is to be released in January 2023.</p>
