DESCRIPTION:
The conference &ldquo\;Lotze to Husserl&rdquo\; will explore the interdisciplinary origins&nbsp\;of the phenomenological movement through a careful examination of the&nbsp\;figures and developments that dominated the intellectual milieu in G&ouml\;ttingen&nbsp\;during the formative years of phenomenology. We consider the&nbsp\;interdisciplinary background to Husserl's thought\, focusing on the radical&nbsp\;innovations in psychology and mathematics that informed his thinking and&nbsp\;served as catalysts to his revolutionary transcendental phenomenology. We&nbsp\;also evaluate the influence of the G&ouml\;ttingen philosopher Hermann Lotze\, a&nbsp\;preeminent figure of mid and late nineteenth-century German philosophy.

Speakers:

Kimberly Baltzer-Jaray
Jason Bell
Christian Beyer
Catharina Bonnemann
Stefania Centrone
Jos&eacute\; Ferreir&oacute\;s
Denis Fisette
Tibor F&ouml\;ldes
Guillaume Frechette
Alessandro Salice
Thomas Szanto
Panos Theodorou
Marta Ubiali
Basil Vassilicos

For more information:
