DESCRIPTION:<p>The speech act has been a central category in pragmatics and the philosophy of language for more than half a century\, but the last two decades have also seen appeals to speech acts in aesthetics\, metaphysics\, epistemology\, feminist philosophy\, meta-ethics\, semantics\, political philosophy\, and other parts of philosophy and linguistics.</p>\n<p>This conference will bring together some of the leading proponents of these new ideas\, along with several of the pioneers of contemporary speech act theory\, in order to find out how the current speech act-theoretic landscape fits together.</p>
