DESCRIPTION:<p>What is the workshop about?</p>\n<p>The workshop aims to discuss the relevance of Indian philosophy to Western philosophy and its potential to solve shared problems. Topics to be covered include causation in Sāṃkhya\, Bauddha\, and Nyāya philosophy\; sources of knowledge\, Gettier and post-Gettier problems\; belief- sentences\, doubt\, meanings of terms and sentences\, negation\, number\, self\, and the concept of harmony\, including the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. The workshop will be led by&nbsp\;Dr. Jaysankar Shaw.</p>\n<p>Who is Dr. Jaysankar Shaw?</p>\n<p>Dr. Shaw has an illustrious teaching career of 51 years. For 42 years\, he taught a range of courses on Western philosophy\, comparative philosophy\, Confucianism\, Buddhism\, and Indian philosophy at Victoria University of Wellington\, New Zealand. He also taught at the University of Hawaii\, the University of Alabama\, and Jadavpur University. Local scholars may also participate in this workshop. Applications are invited from teachers or scholars of Indian or comparative philosophy as well as Swamijis or Brahmacharis of any order from around the world.</p>\n<p>Application Requirement:</p>\n<p>Applicants are required to attach<br>a CV\, a Statement of Intent\, and one letter of reference<br>The High Commission of India will organize this workshop on their premises for the participants but will not offer travel or living expenses. Moderate living expenses in Wellington for 2 months may not exceed $5000 NZD.</p>\n<p>Venue: High Commission of India\, Wellington\,&nbsp\;New Zealand.&nbsp\;Dates: July-August 2023.<br>Outcome:&nbsp\;The workshop will bring together teachers and scholars to discuss the incorporation of</p>\n<p>Indian philosophical techniques in Western philosophy for improved solutions.
