DESCRIPTION:<p>We would like to invite abstract submissions from Early Career Researchers (i.e. PhD candidates or researchers not in permanent academic employment). The conference is to be on the themes of the forthcoming book&nbsp\;<em>Dispositions and Powers</em>\, part of the&nbsp\;<em>Cambridge Elements&nbsp\;</em>series<em>&nbsp\;</em>in<em>&nbsp\;Metaphysics</em>&nbsp\;(ed. Tuomas E. Tahko) authored by Toby Friend and Samuel Kimpton-Nye. The book has three small chapters covering the following topics:&nbsp\;</p>\n<ol>\n<li>The relationship between dispositional properties and powers.&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>The analysis of dispositional properties.&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>The metaphysics of powers.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;</li>\n</ol>\n<p>We encourage submissions on any topic related to these themes. Two authors from among the submissions will be chosen to present alongside our invited speakers Simona Aimar\, Alexander Bird\, Max Kistler\, Jennifer McKitrick\, Stephen Mumford and Matthew Tugby.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Successful authors will have the costs of travel to Bristol and up to three nights accommodation covered by the ERC-funded&nbsp\;<em>MetaScience&nbsp\;</em>project (grant agreement no. 771509).&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Abstracts should be prepared for blind review and be no longer than 1000 words (not including references). Abstracts should be submitted in pdf format as an attachment to an email with the subject heading &lsquo\;Dispositions and Powers abstract submission&rsquo\; to metascience-project@bristol.ac.uk. Authors should state clearly in the email their names and affiliation (or university of PhD candidacy).&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The&nbsp\;<strong>deadline for submissions is 20th&nbsp\;March 11.59pm</strong>.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Authors will be notified about whether they&rsquo\;re successful by the 24th&nbsp\;March.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Any further queries please contact either Toby Friend (toby.friend@bristol.ac.uk) or Samuel Kimpton-Nye (samuel.kimpton-nye@bristol.ac.uk).&nbsp\;</p>
