\nCall for Abstracts
\n\;Eleatica XIII &ndash\; Sessioni Aperte
\n\;
\nEleatica è\; la Sessione Internazionale di Filosofia Antica dedicata agli studi sull&rsquo\;Eleatismo promossa dalla Fondazione Alario per Elea-Velia Impresa Sociale\, diretta da Stefania Giombini (Universitat Autò\;noma de Barcelona) con la responsabilità\; scientifica di Massimo Pulpito (Liceo &lsquo\;Aristosseno&rsquo\; di Taranto &ndash\; Cá\;tedra Unesco Archai) e l&rsquo\;assistenza scientifica e organizzativa di Enrico Volpe (Università\; degli studi di Salerno). Eleatica XIII gode della collaborazione della SFI e del patrocinio di importanti enti nazionali ed internazionali. L&rsquo\;evento si terrà\; dal 24 al 27 settembre 2023 e le lezioni magistrali saranno tenute da Mathilde Bré\;mond (Université\; Clermont Auvergne)\, che presenterà\; tre interventi incentrati su &ldquo\;Gorgia\, erede e avversario degli Eleati&rdquo\;. A latere sono previste sessioni aperte a relatori terzi sui temi legati alla storia dell&rsquo\;Eleatismo\, alle sue origini e alla sua ricezione.
\n\nIl tema scelto per la Call for Abstract 2023 è\; &ldquo\;Sofistica ed Eleatismo&rdquo\;: saranno selezionati 12 abstract. Le sessioni si terranno in presenza presso la tradizionale sede della Fondazione Alario ad Ascea (SA).
\n\;
\nIl rapporto tra la Sofistica e il pensiero eleatico è\; da sempre un tema di forte interesse tra gli studiosi del pensiero antico\, i quali hanno spesso messo in luce la stretta connessione che intercorre tra questi momenti della prima filosofia greca. Alcuni studi hanno tentato di ricondurre il pensiero sofistico a quello eleatico\, sia in termini di una sostanziale riformulazione del divieto parmenideo di esprimere il non essere (inteso come espressione del falso)\, sia in termini di critica radicale del monismo. Allo stesso tempo\, le &ldquo\;categorie&rdquo\; della Sofistica e dell&rsquo\;Eleatismo sono state oggetto di dibattito già\; nell&rsquo\;antichità\;\, a partire dai riferimenti critici presenti in autori come Platone e Aristotele\, e nella ricezione successiva.
\nScopo di queste sessioni è\; quello di mantenere l&rsquo\;attenzione su questo snodo fondamentale del primo pensiero occidentale\, vale a dire il &ldquo\;dialogo&rdquo\; con l&rsquo\;Eleatismo da parte dei Sofisti\, mettendone in luce gli aspetti tuttora ritenuti problematici. L&rsquo\;obiettivo è\;\, dunque\, quello di riflettere sul rapporto dialettico tra queste due &ldquo\;correnti&rdquo\;\, e il ruolo decisivo che questo confronto ha avuto nell&rsquo\;orientamento e nella formazione filosofica di pensatori successivi\, sia nell&rsquo\;ottica della continuità\;\, sia in quella del superamento degli aspetti più\; problematici dei passaggi polemici.
\n\nPossibili ambiti di interesse (ma non esclusivi) sono:
\n\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; L&rsquo\;interpretazione del rapporto tra Eleatismo e Sofistica\, o tra alcune figure specifiche\, inteso come influenza diretta o come relazione polemica\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; Il confronto tra i concetti caratterizzanti le due prospettive e i loro sviluppi\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; L&rsquo\;Eleatismo e Sofistica come categorie storico-filosofiche: limiti e pertinenza\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; Le testimonianze di autori antichi sul rapporto tra le due correnti\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; La logica\, l&rsquo\;ontologia\, la retorica\, e l&rsquo\;epistemologia a partire dal rapporto tra gli Eleati e i Sofisti.
\n\nLinee guida:
\nLe proposte dovranno pervenire sotto forma di abstract (massimo 350 parole). Sono ammesse le seguenti lingue: italiano\, inglese\, spagnolo. Il testo\, in formato pdf\, andrà\; inviato all&rsquo\;indirizzo cfpeleatica@gmail.com. Gli abstract inviati saranno esaminati dal Program Committee di Eleatica\, il cui giudizio è\; insindacabile. Il tempo di presentazione orale dei paper è\; di 20 minuti\, seguiti da una discussione di 10 minuti.
\nAl fine di garantire l&rsquo\;anonimato\, l&rsquo\;abstract non dovrà\; contenere alcuna informazione che possa rendere l&rsquo\;autore/autrice riconoscibile. L&rsquo\;email dovrà\; avere come oggetto la dicitura &ldquo\;Eleatica XIII Proposal&rdquo\;\, e contenere due allegati separati.
\n\nIl primo allegato dovrà\; riportare le seguenti informazioni:
\n&ndash\; Nome e cognome dell&rsquo\;autore/autrice (nella forma che si vuole che appaia nel programma)\;
&ndash\; Istituzione di provenienza\;
&ndash\; Titolo o posizione (ad es. dottoranda di ricerca\, ricercatore indipendente\, professore associato\, etc.)\;

Il secondo allegato \;deve contenere l&rsquo\;abstract e il titolo della presentazione.
\n\nLa presentazione degli abstract deve avvenire entro il 30 aprile 2023.
\nL&rsquo\;esito insindacabile della selezione sarà\; comunicato agli autori via e-mail entro il 21 maggio 2023. Gli autori\, le cui proposte saranno state accettate\, riceveranno un invito ufficiale a presentare il loro intervento al convegno.

\n\;Eleatica XIII &ndash\; Open Sessions
\n\;
\nEleatica is the International Session on Ancient Philosophy devoted to Eleaticism studies fostered by the Fondazione Alario per Elea-Velia Impresa Sociale (Ascea &ndash\; the former Elea\, Italy). Eleatica is directed by Stefania Giombini (Universitat Autò\;noma de Barcelona)\, with the Scientific Supervision of Massimo Pulpito (Liceo &lsquo\;Aristosseno&rsquo\; Taranto &ndash\; Cá\;tedra Unesco Archai) and the scientific and organisational support of Enrico Volpe (Università\; degli studi di Salerno). \;Eleatica XIII cooperates with the Società\; Filosofia Italiana and is patronized by relevant national and international institutions. The 2023 edition will take place at the Fondazione Alario per Elea-Velia on September 24th to 27th and the three lectures will be held by Mathilde Bré\;mond (Université\; Clermont Auvergne)\, whose theme will be &ldquo\;Gorgia erede e avversario degli Eleati&rdquo\;.A latere there will be open sessions to external speakers on themes linked to the history of Eleatism\, its origin and reception.
\nThe topic of the 2023 open sessions is &ldquo\;Sophistic and Eleatism&rdquo\;. The conference will take place in presence by the Fondazione Alario in Ascea (SA).
\nThe relationship between the Sophists and the Eleatic thought has always been a theme of great interest among the scholars of ancient thought\, who have systematically underlined the strong connection existing between these two main moments of the first phases of the ancient Greek philosophy. Some scholars have tried to trace the Sophistic thought back to the Eleatic one\, both in terms of a substantial reconsideration of the Parmenidean dogma on the impossibility of expressing non-being (in this case non-being is to be understood as &lsquo\;false&rsquo\;)\, and in terms of a radical criticism of the monism. At the same time\, the &ldquo\;categories&rdquo\; of the Sophistic and Eleatism have already been discussed by the ancients\, such as Plato and Aristotle.
\nThe aim of these open sessions is to draw attention on this important theoretical turning point in a crucial phase of the early Western thought\, i.e.\, the &ldquo\;dialogue&rdquo\; between the Sophists and the Eleatics\, and to highlight those aspects that are still considered highly problematic in contemporary debate. The aim is to reflect on the dialectical relationship between these two &ldquo\;tendencies&rdquo\; and the crucial role that the Sophists-Eleatics comparison had in the philosophical orientation of the later authors\, both in terms of continuity and of leaving behind the most problematic polemical aspects.
\n\;
\nProposals may address (but are not limited to) the following topics:
\n\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; The interpretation of the relationship between the Eleaticism and the Sophists or between particular philosophers\, as theoretical influence or polemical reference(s)\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; The comparison between the main concepts of the Eleaticism and Sophistic movement and their relative developments in the history of ancient thought\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; &ldquo\;Eleatic&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;Sophistic&rdquo\; as historical-philosophical categories\; their limits and their relevance\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; The testimony of ancient thinkers about the relationship between these two tendencies\;
\n·\; \; \; \; \; \; Logic\, ontology\, rhetoric\, and epistemology based on the relationship between the Eleatics and the Sophists.
\n\;
\nGuidelines:
\nProposals must be submitted as abstracts (max. 350 words). The text should be sent in pdf format to the email address cfpeleatica@gmail.com in one of the following languages: English\, Italian\, Spanish. The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Program Committee of Eleatica\, whose evaluation is unquestionable\, which will select 12 papers from among those received. Each speaker will have 20 minutes to present her/his paper\, followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
\nIn order to keep the abstract anonymous\, the text must not contain any information that could identify the author. The subject of the email containing the abstract must be &ldquo\;Eleatica XIII Proposal&rdquo\;\, and it must consist of two different attachments:
\n\nThe first page \;of the proposal should be a cover page containing the following information:

&ndash\; Author&rsquo\;s institution

The second page \;should contain the anonymized abstract and the title of the paper.
\nThe abstracts must be sent via email by April 30th\, 2023.
\nAuthors will be informed of the unquestionable result of the selection via email by May 21st\, 2023. Authors\, whose proposal is accepted will receive an official invitation to present their paper at the conference.
