DESCRIPTION:<p>A celebration of Millikans groundbreaking contributions to philosophy and the 40th anniversary of her seminal book&nbsp\;<em>Language\, Thought\, and Other Biological Categories</em>&nbsp\;(LOBC) brinding together researchers from a variety of disciplines -- philosophy\, linguistics\, psychology\, anthropology\, and biology -- to engage both critically and creativelv with Millikan's work.</p>\n<p>Keynote speakers are\,</p>\n<p><strong>Josh Armstrong</strong>&nbsp\;(UCLA)</p>\n<p><strong>Rosa Cao</strong>&nbsp\;(Stanford)</p>\n<p><strong>Robyn Carston</strong>&nbsp\;(UCL)</p>\n<p><strong>Francois Recanati</strong>&nbsp\;(Jean-Nicod)</p>\n<p>In addition to our keynote speakers\, also on the program\,</p>\n<p><strong>Dorit Bar-On</strong>&nbsp\;(UConn\, Philosophy)</p>\n<p><strong>David Papinefau</strong>&nbsp\;(King's College\, Philosophy)</p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Melnyk</strong>&nbsp\;(Missouri\, Philosophy)</p>\n<p><strong>Peter Schute</strong>&nbsp\;(Zurich\, Philosophy)</p>\n<p>We will have a panel discussion\, led by&nbsp\;<strong>Daniel Dannett</strong>&nbsp\;(Tufts\, Philosophy)\, including&nbsp\;<strong>Marc Artiga</strong>&nbsp\;(Valencia\, Philosophy)\,&nbsp\;<strong>Janice Dowell</strong>&nbsp\;(Syracuse\, Philosophy)\,&nbsp\;<strong>William Lycan</strong>&nbsp\;(UConn\, Philosophy)\,&nbsp\;<strong>Krisztina Orban</strong>&nbsp\;(Tubingen\, Philosophy)\, and&nbsp\;<strong>Hong Yu Wong</strong>&nbsp\;(Tubingen\, Philosophy).</p>\n<p>Finally\,&nbsp\;we will also host a special session titled 'Millikanian Ideas: the Next Generation' by <strong>Nimra Asif</strong> (UConn)\, <strong>Karl Bergman</strong> (Uppsala)\, <strong>Drew Johnson</strong> (Oslo)\, <strong>Alison Springle</strong> (Oklahoma).&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>We invite short papers of roughly 3\,000 words excluding references that are accessible to an interdisciplinary audience. The papers should be suitable for a 20-25 minute presentation and include an abstract of 250 words. Please prepare the paper for a blind review by removing any author identitying information from the paper and including a separate cover sheet with the title of the paper\, author's name\, and information. The deadline to submit abstracts is&nbsp\;<strong>June 1\, 2023</strong>. Please email paper submissions to:&nbsp\;<strong>aliyar.ozercan@uconn.edu</strong>.
