DESCRIPTION:
In recent years\, a number of scholars have provided novel arguments
for and defences of consequentialist theories. These developments have
led to new versions of global consequentialism or motive
consequentialism as well as new types of consequentialist theories like
commonsense- or multi-dimensional consequentialism. Yet other scholars
have argued that these developments either fail to address fundamental
problems of consequentialist theories or generate new problems
themselves. The conference will critically discuss recent trends in
consequentialist thinking and highlight new -- and possibly old --
problems.

Speakers:

&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Monika Betzler (Bern) &amp\; J&ouml\;rg Schroth (G&ouml\;ttingen)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Dale Dorsey (Kansas)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Julia Driver (Washington University\, St. Louis)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Jan Gertken (HU Berlin)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Tim Henning (Gie&szlig\;en)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Paul Hurley (Claremont\, CA)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Martin Peterson (Eindhoven)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Douglas Portmore (Arizona State)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Christian Seidel (Erlangen)
&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Steven Sverdlik (SMU\, Dallas)

For further information and prior registration until September 15th\,
please contact Christian Seidel (christian.seidel@fau.de).
