DESCRIPTION:
Considering the entire world during the period we commonly call the&nbsp\;Middle Ages\, ca. 300 CE to ca. 1500 CE is a relatively new practice&nbsp\;within a variety of disciplines. Traditionally\, the Middle Ages has&nbsp\;meant the Western Middle Ages with a Eurocentric bias. During the&nbsp\;past few years\, however\, more scholars are taking a broader view.&nbsp\;While some are broadening their own work\, others are finding ways to
collaborate with colleagues within their own disciplines and across&nbsp\;others to integrate all human experience in this period &ndash\; creating a&nbsp\;Global Middle Ages.

Digital Philology invites paper proposals for a special issue that&nbsp\;focuses on how different peoples and cultures envisioned their role&nbsp\;in the universe &ndash\; through creation stories\, ritual practices\,&nbsp\;spiritual beliefs\, celebration and other aspects of human
experience &ndash\; within the perspectives of cosmogony\, cosmology\, and/or&nbsp\;cosmography. We seek papers from scholars worldwide in any
discipline\, who can broaden our understanding in this area. Of&nbsp\;particular interest are papers that offer an interdisciplinary\,&nbsp\;multidisciplinary\, or transdisciplinary perspective. Papers may be&nbsp\;focused on a single culture or address cultural beliefs and practices&nbsp\;in more than one part of the world.

To submit your proposal\, please e-mail title and a 250 word English&nbsp\;abstract and detailed contact information for primary author with the&nbsp\;subject line: ATTN:DIGITAL PHILOLOGY by&nbsp\;August 15\, 2013&nbsp\;to: Dr.&nbsp\;Marguerite Ragnow\,&nbsp\;ragn0001@umn.edu. Authors of accepted proposals&nbsp\;will be invited to submit articles by&nbsp\;November 1\, 2013\; all papers&nbsp\;are subject to the standard review process at Digital Philology: A
\n
Journal of Medieval Cultures.
