DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for Papers</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Gaming Science: Exploring the Intersection of Science and Video Games</strong></p>\n<p>Video games are one of the most popular forms of entertainment today but their potential goes far beyond that. We invite submissions for a thematic issue of&nbsp\;<em>Teorie vědy / Theory of Science</em>&nbsp\;focused on the intersection of science and video games. This issue seeks to explore video games not only as objects of study but also as tools for scientific research.</p>\n<p>We welcome submissions of original research articles from all disciplines and schools of thought that address any of the following topics:</p>\n<p>A) Video games as objects of scientific research</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>How do different sciences study video games (e.g.\, history\, psychology\, sociology\, game studies\, aesthetics\, computer science\, etc.)?</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>B) Video games as tools for scientific research</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>How do different sciences use video games in their research? For example\, using games to study:</p>\n</li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>immersive technologies (e.g.\, virtual reality)</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>spatial reasoning</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>empathy and aggression</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>ethical dilemmas</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n</ul>\n<p>C) Broader topics</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>the role of gamification in scientific research</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>the potential of video games to facilitate interdisciplinary research and collaboration</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>the philosophical\, ethical\, societal\, educational\, and other related aspects of the intersection of science and video games</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Submissions should be in English or Czech and follow the guidelines for&nbsp\;<em>Teorie vědy / Theory of Science</em>\, available on the journal&rsquo\;s website.</p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is&nbsp\;<strong>March 31\, 2024</strong>.
