DESCRIPTION:
That Africa is at crossroads in an increasingly globalised world is indisputable. Equally indisputable is the fact that the Humanities as a broad field of intellection\, research and learning in Africa appears to have been pigeonholed or at best given the &lsquo\;backseat&rsquo\; in the development aspirations of many African countries.

This is against the backdrop that historical experience and research output indicate that the Humanities in its various shades is critical to Africa&rsquo\;s capacity to respond effectively to the challenges of security\, corruption\, ethnic cleansing\, poverty\, superstition\, environmental pollution\, kidnapping\, HIV/AIDS\, communal clashes\, among many other mounting challenges which confront African Peoples.

It is within this dynamic cusp of challenges and possibilities that abound in the Humanities that the Faculty of Arts\, Ambrose Alli University is organizing its 2nd International Conference\, which will draw participants from across the globe. It is intended that this conference would explore contemporary cultural dynamics in Africa and the African diaspora.

Keynote Speakers

- Prof. Tunde Bewaji
&nbsp\; Deptartment of Languages\, Linguistics &amp\; Philosophy\, University of &nbsp\; the West Indies\, Kingston\, Jamaica
- Prof. Kenneth Harrow
&nbsp\; Deptartment of English\, Michigan State University\, East Lansing\, &nbsp\; MI\, USA
- Prof. Hope Eghagha
&nbsp\; Department of English\, University of Lagos\, Lagos\, Nigeria

Sub-themes

- Evaluating cultural identities in 21st century Africa
- The Diaspora and African culture in the new millennium
- The Humanities and the question of security in 21st century Africa
- Environmental ethics and African culture
- The dynamics of intellectual culture in the 21st century
- Inter-disciplinary explorations and the dynamics of African culture
- Philosophy and the dynamics of African culture
- African youth and culture in the new millennium
- Literature and the dynamics of African culture
- Textual and textured representations of African culture
- Language and the dynamics of African culture
- Theatre and the dynamics of African culture
- Cultural dynamics and the sustainable development in Niger Delta
- Media and communication and the dynamics of African culture
- African popular culture in the new millennium
- Gendered representations in African culture in the 21st century
- Religion and the dynamics of African culture
- Theoretical explorations of the dynamics of African culture
\n
Registration

Conference registration fee for each participant is N 15\,000/ US$ 100 and N 5\,000/ US$ 35 for student participant.

The registration fee covers conference materials\, tea breaks\, board and lodging as well as publication of accepted paper.

Organising Committee

Dr. Eunice Omonzejie\, Chairman
Cellphone: +2348055516095
Email: euniceomons@yahoo.co.uk

Osakue S.
