DESCRIPTION:<p>This workshop approaches the problem of temporality in the post-Kantian and phenomenological traditions. It will take place from 10:00 on 17 November 2023 at the Institute of Philosophy (Habelschwerdter Allee 30\, 14195 Berlin\, Untergeschoss) at Freie Universit&auml\;t Berlin. Devoting particular attention to Martin Heidegger's philosophy of time\, its point of departure is Heidegger's suggestion that time is to be conceived as the horizon of all understanding of being. With a focus that merges both historical and contemporary debates\, it will engage with the following topics:</p>\n<p>- The conception of time &ndash\; asking whether a single conception is both necessary and sufficient or whether we need a plurality of understandings of time in order to do justice to this phenomenon<br><br>- The relation of dependence between temporality and the existence of minded individuals\, capable of understanding (being)<br><br>- Temporal idealism and realism</p>\n<p>- Time and personal identity<br><br>- Communities and their temporality &ndash\; examining the view that societies age in a similar way to individuals<br><br>- Temporality and philosophy of emotion<br><br>With: Sacha Golob (King's College London)\, Dina Emundts (Freie Universit&auml\;t Berlin)\, Mark Wrathall (University of Oxford)\, Mihnea Chiujdea (Freie Universit&auml\;t Berlin)\, Dylan Trigg (University of Vienna)\, Hilge Landweer (Freie Universit&auml\;t Berlin).</p>\n<p>Registration is recommended but not essential.
