DESCRIPTION:
Ralph Cudworth (1617&ndash\;1688) was among the most important and respected English philosophers of the seventeenth century. His magnum opus\,&nbsp\;The True Intellectual System of the Universe\, was reprinted many times well into the seventeenth century. &nbsp\;His views influenced a range of philosophers\, including Locke and Diderot\, and were hotly debated in early eighteenth century France by the likes of Bayle and Leibniz. &nbsp\;Despite this significance\, Cudworth's philosophical writings have not received anywhere near the attention that they deserve from historians of philosophy.
\n
We are happy to announce a workshop on the philosophy of Ralph Cudworth to be held at&nbsp\;the University of Toronto June 3&ndash\;4\, 2024. We welcome submissions on any aspect of Cudworth's philosophy.&nbsp\;Submissions should take the form of an abstract (max 450 words) and title and sent to Matthew Leisinger at mleising@yorku.ca.&nbsp\;The deadline is&nbsp\;December 31\, 2023. The decisions for the program will be made by the end of January 2024. We expect to be able to cover the cost of travel and accommodations for all accepted speakers.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n

Invited speakers:
\n
\n
Anna Corrias (University of Cambridge) &nbsp\;
\n
Fran&ccedil\;ois Duchesneau (Universit&eacute\; de Montr&eacute\;al) &nbsp\;
\n
Stewart Duncan (University at Buffalo) &nbsp\;
\n
Sarah Hutton (University of York)&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n
Samuel Rickless (University of California\, San Diego)&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n
\n
Organizers:
\n
\n
Matthew Leisinger\, York University
\n
Marleen Rozemond\, University of Toronto
\n
