DESCRIPTION:
CALL FOR POSTERS (Online\, Deadline: 16.02.2024)
Philosophy of Neurorophic AI
\n

Workshop on Philosophy of Neuromorphic AI\, May 30-31 2024
\n
Neuromorphic AI
There has been a long tradition of philosophers\, cognitive scientists and computer scientists discussing philosophical implications of artificial intelligence. Since for the last decades von Neumann style computation has been the main paradigm\, most of the discourse is centered around standard digital computation. However\, with the advent of neuromorphic hardware many philosophical answers need to be reconsidered. Are implementations of AI algorithms on neuromorphic hardware mere simulations or rather replications of brain structures? Does the use of biologically inspired components yield new ethical implications? Or can neuromorphic chips be used to build embodied robots? This workshop attempts to answer those and more questions by bringing together scientists of different areas and career phases.
We are looking for participants of all fields which are interested in philosophical issues surrounding brain-inspired computation. Posters will be presented online via speed presentations.
\n
Keynotes will be given by:
* Prof. Dr. Paul Thagard (University of Waterloo)
* Prof. Dr. Chiara Bartolozzi (Italian Institute of Technology)
\n
Further invited speakers are:
* Prof. Dr. Gualtiero Piccinini (University of Missouri &ndash\; St. Louis)
* Prof. Dr. Herbert Jaeger (University of Groningen)
* Prof. Dr. Pascal Nieters (University of Osnabr&uuml\;ck)
* Dr. Wanja Wiese (Ruhr University Bochum)
\n
Further information as well as the program can be found at the conference website: https://situated-cognition.com/2023/11/01/neuromorphic_ai/.
\n
The workshop will be held online from 30/05/2024 to 31/05/2024. It is organized by Johannes Brinz
and Nikola Kompa.
\n
Submission
We invite submissions of abstracts (max. 500 words) for posters prepared for blind review. The deadline for submissions is 16/02/2024. To submit\, please send an email with our abstract in PDF format along with your&nbsp\; contact information to: johannes.brinz@uni-osnabrueck.de.
The organizing committee will notify authors of its decision by 29/02/2024.
